Whatever happened to Portugal?

Remember these names from Elementary history?

Ferdinand Magellan
Henry the Navigator
Vasco da Gama

They were all Portuguese explorers.

At one time Portugal was a world power. You don't really hear much about it anymore. I know people in Brazil speak Portuguese. Sepultura makes some rocking Portuguese death metal (Ratamahatta is a great song!). You just don't hear much about Portugal as a country anymore. What happened?

Just wondering.

Thursday Night Dance Party will not be taking place at home tonight, as we are going to St. Andrew's to see the Dresden Dolls. I'll let you know how it was.

You had a terrific elementary history education. In fact, most Michiganders I know are history buffs. Too bad your roads are so terrible. We might considering moving there for the sake of our kids' educations.

Enjoy them Dolls.

I do believe that Sepultura are in fact Brazilian. So chalk another (semi) victory up to the language but not the country.

Em bom português, deixa-me que te diga: vem a Portugal... quem sabe para ver os Dresden Dolls e talvez fiques surpreendido.
